Terri helped my dog Pumba and I become a strong, confident team capable of providing meaningful outreach to those in need of a dog’s unconditional love. When we began our Canine Good Citizen (CGC) class, Pumba was just eight months old—still a puppy and a bit stubborn. But with Terri’s guidance, grounded in positive reinforcement and consistent expectations, he successfully passed both the CGC test and, eventually, the therapy dog certification.

Terri is an incredibly patient trainer who uses a variety of methods to help both dogs and handlers understand what success looks like in real-world settings. When Pumba struggled to follow my commands, Terri would calmly step in, demonstrate the task with ease, and then give me the support I needed to try again. Watching her work with Pumba helped me realize that he could do it—it was just a matter of building my own confidence and learning how to communicate clearly with him. With her support, I found myself succeeding more and more, and our teamwork began to solidify. As for Pumba's connection wtih Terri...she is definitely one his favorite humans! He truly took to her and trusted her from the moment he met her!

Training with Terri didn’t only prepare us for certification—it strengthened the bond between Pumba and I. Through all the time spent practicing and growing together, I’ve developed confidence in handling him in public and during therapy visits. I had the pleasure of meeting Terri in 2024 during a wellness meeting where she introduced her therapy dogs. From the start, it was clear that Terri possessed a wealth of knowledge and experience in both training and the use of therapy dogs. Her insight, kindness and approachable nature made a lasting impression on me.

Several months later, I learned that Terri was offering therapy dog training classes at our local school. I immediately saw this as an incredible opportunity and didn’t hesitate to enroll. My dog, Ace, and I participated in the training with the goal of becoming certified as a therapy dog team.

Terri’s guidance throughout the program was exceptional. She is not only kind and compassionate but also highly knowledgeable. She provides both dogs and handlers with the tools, structure, and encouragement needed to succeed. Her ability to instill confidence in others is one of her greatest strengths, and she genuinely goes above and beyond to support each team.

Thanks to Terri, we not only completed the program successfully, but also felt fully prepared and inspired to begin our journey as a therapy dog team.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all of your time and patience you gave to Poppy and me. You would be so proud of her! She gets excited every time we head to school and has such a great instinct to read the kids and what they need from her right there in the moment. Her demeanor, when on the job is spot on and believe it or not, her favorite thing to do is to lay down and let the child, of all ages, see her as a protector and friend.
